| Symbolic of the God of Wind, which in Finnish is Tuulenjumala. In Saami he is Bieg'golmmai. The Gods name is Ilma.
As the God of the element Air, he controls the winds and thus the carriage and safety of travellers. His name literally translates as Air in the Finnish language. He can be seen holding some type of weather machine and a beater or two shovel like tools that he wafts together to increase the winds! He is believed to live in the rocks and precipices and can cause storms both on land and upon waters. Naturally, he is a much revered and powerful God and has his own symbol on the Noitarumpu drum skins!
The keyring is made from a slice of Reindeer horn, which has then been pyrographed. Measurements vary from approximately 5cm-7cm long with a regulation metal twin ring. (This may be removed for secure flat transportation in the post). Could alternatively be put on thong and worn as a necklace! The keyring in this listing is the one on the left, raised up. This is the last one of this design that I have. Once it is gone, it is gone.
The symbol is taken from the Lapland Noitarumpu drum, which has symbols of the gods, spirits and universe upon it. The horns or antlers come from Reindeers, but contrary to misguided belief..no Reindeer are hurt for their antlers..these are NOT taken directly from the animals! They are collected after the Reindeer bulls have dropped their horns in the early winter or in the spring when the cows lose theirs. The Reindeer is the most highly valued creature to the Saami, Lapland communities. Reindeer herding is central to their way of life.
Fantastic small present for Fathers Day, Mothers Day, a Birthday or Christmas!
Ideal for lovers of Reindeer, Lapland symbols and ecologically sound products! I ONLY HAVE THE ONE - SO SNAP IT UP NOW, WHILST YOU CAN! BECAUSE, WHEN IT IS GONE IT IS GONE!
