One of my buyers has sent me the following image of an item found in her late mother's sewing basket.
Does anyone know what it is? I have asked various people, but they do not seem to know for certain what it is.
Ideas so far, thread/floss holder, waxer?, knitting needle gauge,. I have not seen anything like this before.

After further enquiries im now sure this is a Victorian bone knitting needle gauge.

Is it something to do with French knitting? A knitting nancy top that has lost its prongs perhaps?

Hi Michelle,
I asked quite a few experts and none came up with that, you could be spot on!,
I shall let my buyer know. I think she is checking the needle gauge theory today, but i think your suggestion is the right one
Thank you |

The buyer in question has sent a photo of her item to the Sampler Guild, so we shall see if the ladies know what it is...
Hi
Thank you for contacting The Sampler Guild. I have no idea so is it OK if I put the photo out through our newsletter which is due out mid November and ask our ladies, I'm sure someone is bound to know and then I will get back to you? Kindest Regards, |
